G. MARIE SHIRK
G. Marie Shirk, 86, of Selinsgrove died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Ri
verWoods, Lewisburg.
She was born March 24, 1923 in rural Liverpool to the late Milton an
d G. Pearl (Barner) Gelnett.
She had been employed at Liverpool Shirt Factory and was a homemaker
; a 1942 graduate of Liverpool High School; a member of Wesley Unite
d Methodist Church, Selinsgrove; and enjoyed socializing with friend
s and corresponding by letter writing.
She was the widow of Herman R. Shirk, to whom she was married 59 years
.
Surviving are a son, Kerry A. of Selinsgrove and a daughter, Sherry Do
elly, both of Selinsgrove; three grandchildren, Brian P. Donnelly o
f State College, Kelly M. VanHorn of Freeburg and Eric R. Donnelly o
f Selinsgrove; a great-grandson, Sawyer VanHorn; a sister-in-law, Carr
ie Shirk of Liverpool; and a brother-in-law, Robert Cauffman of Miller
stown.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clayton and Bruce Gelnett
, in childhood; and two sisters, Mildred Witmer and Ardella Cauffman.
Services were held July 27 in George P. Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool
, with the Rev. Dr. Michael L. Stine officiating and Lynn Schmoyer ass
isting. Burial was in St. John (Barners) Cemetery.
