    Robert LeRoy Barner was born on Friday, September 19, 1947 at Modesto

    and Helen Kathleen Wilson.

    Robert married (1), at the age of 20, Karen Patricia McCarthy White o
    Tuesday, August 13, 1968 at Modesto, California. He and Karen were d
    ivorced circa 1972. Robert married (2), at the age of 27, Sandra Colle
    en Lyons on Sunday, September 29, 1974 at Flagler, Flagler County, Flo
    ida. He and Sandra were divorced on November 27, 1997.

    He died due to contracting a Staff infection that attacked an artifici
    al valve in his heart on Thursday, January 11, 2001 at the age of 53 y
    ears, three months and 23 days.

    He was buried at Section C-6 Site 385, at San Joaquin Valley Nationa
    l Cemetery, Gustine, Merced County, California.

    AMERICUS - Helen Kathleen Barner, 88, died Oct. 13, 2012, in Americu
    s with her family by her side. She has resided with and been cared fo
    by her granddaughter Debra Cripe whom she raised as her own child an
    d Debra’s family for the final precious days of her life.

    She was born May 1, 1924, in Port Byron, Ill., to Edward Leroy Wilso
    and Helen Marie Hunt.

    Helen Kathleen graduated Nursing Cadet School in Illinois, later movin
    g to Alameda, Calif., to work at the naval base where she met and marr
    ied Clinton Keith Barner. They lived in the Turlock and Modesto area f
    or the majority of their lives. Helen Kathleen was a registered nurs
    e for 42 years, and a mother, wife and homemaker to not only her child
    en but to her granddaughter Debra Cripe.

    She was a member of the Eastern Star Rose Chapter in Port Byron, Ili.
    , and belonged to the Teamster Retirees 386.

    Her interests included family, baking, animals, crossword pu?les, sewi
    g and reading. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregive
    to her family members.

    Helen Kathleen is survived by her daughters, Susan Marie Johnson Silve
    ia of Modesto, Calif., Cheri Whitaker Vandiver Cupp of Washington; ei
    ght grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and three great -great-grand
    children.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton K. Barner and her so
    Robert L. Barner.

    Helen Kathleen Barner will be interred with her husband in the San Joa
    quin Valley National Veterans Cemetery in Salinas, Calif.

    Aldridge Funeral Services 612 Rees Park is in charge of arrangements.
