  1. 6.   George Harvey BARNER was born on 8 Jun 1958 in Harrisburg, PA (son of Richard E. "Dick" BARNER, Jr. and Judy ARNDT); died on 3 Jul 2022.

    Notes:

    George Harvey Barner, 64, of Penbrook, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022, at UPMC Community Osteopathic Hospital. Born June 8, 1958, in Harrisburg, he was a son of Judy E. (Arndt) Barner and the late Richard E. Barner, Jr. He was the husband of 45 years to the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Sue Barner, with whom he just celebrated with anniversary on the 18th of June.

    George was a graduate of CD East High School, Class of 76 and worked as a truck driver for SPI for 25 years and Kessler’s for 15 years. He had a passion for music, especially the Rolling Stones, and played in several local bands. He was known as the “IT” guy by the family because of his knowledge of computers. In his spare time, he enjoyed crossword puzzles, trips to the beach, and spending time with this family, grandchildren, and dog, Boomer.

    In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his daughter, Heather Barner; grandchildren, Katera, Madeline, and Christian; and a brother, Andrew Barner (Lee Ann).

    He was also preceded in death by a son, Mick David Barner; a brother, David Barner; and mother-in-law, Gladys.

    Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday, July 23, 2022, 10AM-11AM at the Hetrick Bitner Funeral Home, Inc., 3125 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA 17109, with a time of remembrance and sharing to follow at 11AM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

    In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, 7790 Grayson Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17111.

    Richard E. "Dick" Barner, Jr.,77, of Harrisburg, passed away Tuesday
    , May 12, 2015, in the Carolyn Croxton Slane Residence of Hospice of C
    entral Pennsylvania.
    Born in Harrisburg on June 10,1937 he was the son of the late Richar
    d E., Sr., and Helen C. Lodge Barner. Dick was a graduate of William P
    enn High School class of 1955.
    He retired after 30 years of service from Bethlehem Steel. After retir
    ement he worked for Raub Supply as the Warehouse Manager, for Eshenaur
    's Fuel Service, H & R Block, and as a deliveryman for Muth & Muuma De
    tal Lab. He served in the U.S. Air Force, Marine Corps, and Army Rese
    ves. Dick was a very active member of Trinity Evangelical Congregatio
    al Church, Rutherford Heights, where he served as a past Trustee an
    d Treasurer of his Sunday School Class. He was a former member of th
    e DeMolay. Dick had a great love and knowledge of the outdoors and enj
    oyed taking his family and children from the neighborhood fishing, hun
    ting and boating. He also will be remembered for his wonderful sense o
    f humor and great story telling ability. His antics on the annual fami
    ly beach vacation are legendary. Dick was a friend to all, but he wa
    s best known as being the best husband, father, uncle, brother, grandf
    ather, and great grandfather anyone could ever have.
    In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by a son, Davi
    d E. Barner, on May 1, 1992.
    He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Judy Arndt Barner, who
    m he married on June 15, 1957; two sons, George H. Barner (Sue), and A
    drew D. Barner(Lee Ann Seitz) both of Harrisburg; two grandchildren
    , Mick Barner and Heather Barner; three great grandchildren, Katera Ge
    yer, Madeline Heagy, and Christian Barner; and two sisters Patricia Li
    (Ralston) of Delaware and Barbara Roganish (John) of Harrisburg.
    Visitation will be on Friday, May 22, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Satur
    day, May 23, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Congregational Ch
    urch, 165 North 67th Street, Harrisburg. A service to celebrate Dick'
    s life will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015, at 11 a.m. also at the chu
    ch, with The Rev. Dr. Keith A. Blank and The Rev. Dr. Ryan Martin off
    iciating.
    Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Township.
