    THOMAS C. CHILCOTE Thomas C. Chilcote, 90 years old, of Palm Beach Shores, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2011. Mr. Chilcote graduated from Shippensburg State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and from Temple University with both Masters and Doctoral degrees in secondary education administration. His career as an educator began in 1942, teaching for 18 years then moving into administration. He was the Assistant Principal of North Penn Senior High School in Lansdale, PA. At Spring-Ford Senior High School, Royersford, PA he began as assistant principal and was promoted to principal. Mr. Chilcote was an instructor for Temple University of Philadelphia in Driver education and was a charter member of the Pennsylvania Association for Safety Education. He has been recognized for meritorious service by the Pennsylvania Association for Safety Education. Upon retiring to Florida, Mr. Chilcote taught at Palm Beach Community College. He was elected and served as Commissioner of Palm Beach Shores for six years. He was then elected mayor of Palm Beach Shores and served for 12 years in this capacity. Mr. Chilcote's accomplishments as mayor include Ocean Pointe Marriott locating in Palm Beach Shores, resurfacing of all streets and installation of sewers throughout the town, expansion of Town Hall, demolition of the condemned Colonnades Hotel, adoption of a comprehensive plan for the town, addition of a Town Administrator and fulltime police dispatchers, landscaping of Ocean Avenue, the dune walkover construction, and expedited construction of what is now the Palm Beach Shores Resort. The recipient of the American Educators Medal from the Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge and the Legion of Honor of the Chapel of the Four Chaplains in Philadelphia, Mr. Chilcote was listed in Who's Who in the East in 1977. A member of the American Association of School Administrators, Mr. Chilcote distinguished himself as President of the Pennsylvania Association of Secondary School Principals from 1977 to 1978. He was a member of Rotary International of North Palm Beach, the Shiloh Lodge F. & A.M., and of the First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach. Mr. Chilcote was predeceased by his wife, Esther C. Chilcote in 1999. He is survived by a niece, Mary Ann; wife of Rev. Dr. Robert Hoffman of Boyertown, PA and a nephew, William C. Clemens, of Carlisle, PA. Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Howard Price Funeral Home, North Palm Beach. Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 717 Prosperity Farms Road, North Palm Beach on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, West Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, friends may offer contributions in memory of Mr. Chilcote to First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach.
