Allen B. Lupold, 90, of 153 Broad St., Montgomery, died Wednesday, Feb
. 21, 2007 in the Kramm Health Care Center, Watsontown.
He was born May 21, 1916, near Loganton, a son of the late Harvey an
d Carrie (Barner) Lupold. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, th
e former Martha A. Swartz.
Allen was employed for 20 years at the Bi-Lo Plumbing and Supply Compa
y, managing the Montgomery stores and later managing the Danville sto
e, where he retired. Earlier in his life, he drove truck for the form
er John Peters and Son Meat Packing plant in Williamsport.
He was a veteran of World War II, with the rank of Master Sergeant. H
e was on active duty prior to the start of World War II, and helped t
o organize and train the paratroopers. Allen also served in the Europe
an Theatre attached to the 13th Airborne Division.
He was a member of the Williamsport F&AM Lodge, Williamsport Consistor
y and a former member of the Montgomery Lions Club.
For many years he had enjoyed his cabin in Washington Twp, Lycoming Co
unty. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, hiking, riding three-whee
lers and vegetable gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law
, Larry A. and Cynthia of Montgomery; two grandchildren, Angela Jo Ris
hel of Montoursville and Allison K. Begley of Niceville, Fla.; by fou
great grandchildren, Jena Deann Rishel, Dalton Jeffrey Rishel, Broc
k Alan Begley, Kaylin Renee Begley; two sisters, Mary Wolford and Gera
ldine Wolfe, both of Watsontown; brother, Russell Lupold of RR Allenwo
od.
He was predeceased by two sisters and five brothers.
Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cronrath Funeral Ho
me, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where the funeral service will be conduc
ted at 10 a.m. with the Rev. D. Todd Baker, Elimsport Baptist Church
, officiating.
Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
