., 67, of Beech Creek, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 10
, 2015, at the Lock Haven Hospital. He was born on November 8, 1947, i
Lock Haven, a son of the late Lee F. Russell and Marie Barner Russel
l Knarr of Castanea. On January 17, 1968, he married the love of his l
ife, Doris Gail Russell who preceded him in death on January 11, 2015
. Lee had worked at Piper Aircraft, Hammermill Paper and retired fro
m Cerro Metal after many years of service. He had also worked for Weav
er Electric. Lee was a proud veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, servin
g in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant. He was member of the Blanchar
d Church of Christ, the Beech Creek American Legion, life-member of Be
ech Creek/Blanchard Fire Co. where he served as a former Chief and EMT
. He also belonged to the Liberty Twp. Sportsman Club. He enjoyed hunt
ing arrowheads, fishing, hunting, and was a avid Penn State and Pittsb
urgh Steeler Fan. Along with his mother, he is survived by a daughter
, Wendi K. (Craig) Showers of Wingate; a son, Shannon L. Russell of Be
ech Creek; a brother, Ed Russell of Lock Haven; two sisters, Gail Luca
s of Milesburg and Sherri (Arn) Best of Loganton; a grandson, Brett Ha
ley; two step-grandsons, Chris and Luke Showers; and four great-grand
children. Friends and family will be received at the Blanchard Churc
h of Christ 161 Beach St., Blanchard with the Rev. Russell J. Moldova
officiating on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, from 5 - 8:00 p.m. Funera
l service will be following the visitation at the church at 8:00 p.m
. on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, with military honors. Burial will be a
t the Schencks Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will b
e a Fire Co. memorial tribute service just prior to the funeral servic

Doris G. “Gail” Russell, 65, of Beech Creek, went to be with her Lor
d on Sunday, January 11, 2015. Born on December 23, 1949, in Lock Have
, she was the daughter of the late Dean M. Weaver and Margaret B. Wil
liams Weaver Russler of Beech Creek. On January 19, 1968, in Mill Hall
, she married Lee F. Russell, Jr. who survives at home.

Gail was a 1967 graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany High School. She wa
s a homemaker and a wonderful mother.

Gail was a member of the Blanchard Church of Christ. She was also a me
mber of the Beech Creek American Legion Auxiliary. She loved spendin
g time with her family. She looked forward to the joy rides she and Le
e would go on daily. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and PSU F
ootball fan. She enjoyed cooking and was an excellent cook. She wa
s a friend to all and will be deeply missed by those that knew her.

Gail is survived by her mother, husband, son; Shannon L. Russell and h
is wife, Missy of Beech Creek, and daughter; Wendi K. Showers and he
husband, Craig, of Wingate. Also surviving is her one grandchild, fi
ve step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two brothers, and th
ee sisters.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 10-11am at the Bla
chard Church of Christ in Blanchard. Funeral services will be on Frid
ay, January, 16, 2015 at 11am at the church with Pastor Russel Moldovi
officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Sche
ck’s Cemetery, Howard Twp.

Marie M. Barner Russell Rogers Knarr, 87, of Castanea passed away Mond
ay, Dec. 5, 2016, at Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

Born in Mill Hall on May 2, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Gro
ver Cleveland and Nancy E. Barner.

Marie was a graduate of Mill Hall High School.

She was a hard worker which was obvious as she was employed at variou
s locations over the years including Sylvania, Sweet Shop of Mill Hall
, John Weaver’s Store in Mill Hall, Nittany Inn in Lamar, Brodart, an
d Interstate Travelers Services where she started and ran restaurant
s and truck stops.

Marie enjoyed embroidery, sewing, gardening and cooking.

She would do anything for anyone in need.

Marie was a true matriarch of her family. Most important to her was th
e time she spent with family, especially her children, grandchildren a
d great-grandchildren. They were her life.

Surviving is her husband of five years, Linn H. Knarr of Castanea; he
son, Edward R. Russell of Mill Hall; two daughters, Gail A. Russel
l Lucas of Howard and Sherri L. (Arn) Best of Loganton; two brothers
, Jimmie (Sandy) and Gordon (Patricia) Barner, both of Mill Hall; he
sister, Pearl Lehman of Northumberland; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-g
andchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Le
e F. Russell, Jr.; three brothers, Grover C., Clifford and Raymond Bar
er; and her sister, Nancy Barner-Haffley.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
