Suzanne Hendricks Meixell
Suzanne Hendricks Meixell, 67, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug
. 8, 2010, at her home with her children and grandchildren by her side
. She showed her caring family how to deal with illness and death wit
h a special grace and dignity.
A native of Union Co, she was born Jan. 29, 1943, in Lewisburg, a daug
hter of the late Maredith Slifer “Bud” and Evelyn Ruth (Hendricks) Mei
xell. In 1962, she married Roger Lauell Libby and they were married fo
29 years.
Sue was a 1960 graduate of Lewisburg High School, a 1984 graduate of S
usquehanna University with a degree in psychology, and earned a master
’s degree in social work from Marywood College in 1990.
She was a homemaker and a social worker.
Sue enjoyed time with her family and good friends, being involved in h
er grandchildren’s activities, the First Baptist Church, monthly dinne
s with her high school classmates, jogging, knitting, reading and gar
dening.
Sue is survived by her three children, Maredith (Libby) Spangler and h
usband Mike, Jennifer Libby, and Peter Libby, all of Lewisburg; thre
e grandchildren, Heather Sue Spangler, Ryan Michael Spangler, and Kar
a Nicole Libby; one brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Diane Meixell
, of Lewisburg; one sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Tom Wheele
, of Lewisburg; and many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be conducted.
