    Leroy J. Everett

    Leroy J. Everett, 76, of Glen Ellyn died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, a
    t home. He was born Feb. 13, 1931, in Watsontown, Pa.

    He was a research biochemist and owner of TEST-ER and retired as vic
    e president of research and development at Packard Instruments in Down
    ers Grove. He earned bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from Pe
    State University. He enjoyed traveling with family, fine wine and d
    ining, gardening, skiing and football and adored dogs. He was a membe
    of the American Chemical Society and the Penn State Alumni Associati
    on.

    He is survived by his wife, Sara (Barner) Everett; two children, Dr. T
    homas F. Everett of Minneapolis and Elizabeth E. (husband Brian) Jone
    s of Cottage Grove, Wis.; three grandchildren, Lucy Everett, and Etha
    and Natalie Jones; a sister, Phyllis (husband Charlie) Roth of San R
    amon, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Anne Everett of Bloomsburg, Columbi
    a Co, PA.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, T. Guy and Margurite Everett
    ; and a brother, Carl Everett.

    No services are scheduled.

    Sara "Sally" Everett Sara "Sally" Everett of Cottage Grove, Wis., wa
    s called to her eternal life on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at the age o
    f 81. She was born Dec. 5,1930, in Jersey Shore, Pa., to Isabelle Fr
    y Barner and Dr. Edwin Ford Barner, who was the local dentist. It wa
    s during her English studies at Penn State University, on a blind dat
    e Christmas party, where she met Leroy John Everett, who would becom
    e her loving husband and partner for life. Sara studied English Litera
    ture and traveled widely, studying Shakespeare's works at the infamou
    s Stratford-upon-Avon. She married Leroy "Roy" on Sept. 3, 1955, and w
    orked as a librarian while her husband worked toward his Ph.D. in bioc
    hemistry. The two relocated to the Midwest, having a son, Thomas For
    d and daughter, Elizabeth Ann, while living in Kansas City, Miss. Jo
    b opportunities brought them to the Chicago suburb of Glen Ellyn, Ill.
    , where they laid down their roots and raised their children. Sally wa
    s an active member in the First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn an
    d a member of the Glen Ellyn's Woman's Club. Her passions for travel
    , fine food and wine, music and live theater never abated, as well a
    s her talents in knitting and quilting; often donating much of her wor
    k to charity. On a Saturday afternoon you would find her listening t
    o an opera, watching college football, working on a scarf or sweater a
    d doing a crossword pu?le all at once. She is survived by her son, Dr
    . Thomas Ford (Regina Blevins) Everett of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.
    ; daughter, Elizabeth (Brian) Jones of Cottage Grove; and five belove
    d grandchildren, Noah Phillips, Rachael Phillips, Lucy Everett, Etha
    Jones and Natalie Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents; a
    d beloved husband, Roy on April 11, 2007. A memorial open house to b
    e held on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 1 until 3 p.m. at the Gunderson Funer
    al Home, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison. In lieu of flowers, donations ca
    be sent in Sara's name to the Red Cross to aid in the relief effort
    s from Hurricane Sandy to redcross.org/hurricane_aid. Online condolenc
