    MIDDLETOWN - Violet M. Davis, 75, of Middletown, died at 10:40 p.m. Tu
    esday, March 26, 2013, at her home. She was born March 24, 1938, in We
    st Perry Township, Snyder County, a daughter of the late Newton E. an
    d Minerva E. (Strawser) Hokenbrough. On April 27, 1956, she married Ra
    ymond L. Davis, with whom she shared nearly 57 years of marriage. Viol
    et was a 1955 graduate of Middleburg High School. In earlier life, sh
    e had been employed by the East Salem Shirt factory and later served a
    s a cook in the cafeteria at East Juniata High School. After moving t
    o Middletown, she retired as a cook from the Middletown School Distric
    t. During her retirement, she had been employed by Pomeroy’s Departmen
    t Store, Harrisburg, and her last employment was Myers Associates, Har
    isburg. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Middlet
    own, where she had served as the treasurer of the church. Violet ha
    d a passion for collecting clowns and loved to take walks. She also ha
    d a gift for sewing and playing the piano. However, her greatest joy c
    ame from being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmothe
    as she cherished the precious time that she spent with her family. I
    addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, one daught
    er and son-in-law, Kathie M. and Robert Gerrity, of Waldorf, Md., an
    d one son and daughter-in-law, Donald E. and Sally Davis, of Etters; t
    wo sisters and one brother-in-law, Minerva E. and William Fronk, of Mc
    Alisterville, and Alma A. Barner, of Ephrata; one brother and two sist
    ers-in-law, Howard S. and Shawn Hokenbrough, of Freeburg, and Cindy Ho
    kenbrough, of Mount Pleasant Mills; four grandchildren, Kevin D. Gerri
    ty, Megan E. Gerrity, Gina M. Davis and Michelle J. Davis; and one gre
    at-granddaughter, Cali N. Wintermyer. She was preceded in death by tw
    o brothers, Marlin D. Hokenbrough and Elwood N. Hockenbrough in infanc
    y. There will be no viewing. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m
    . today with the family present from 6 to 8 in the Brown Funeral Home
    s Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville, and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Fri
    day in Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Middletown, followed by the f
    uneral at 10 with the Rev. John Overman officiating. Interment will fo
    llow at 2:30 p.m. in Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville. For those wh
