Lamar - Mrs. Florence V. BARNER, 71, wife of Walter R. BARNER, Howar
d R. D. 2, was pronounced dead at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lock Haven Hos
pital. She had been taken to the hospital after suffering a cerebral h
emorrhage at her home.
Mrs. BARNER was a native of Jersey Shore. She was born May 28, 1901
, a daughter of Grant and Kathryn HAUSER CARPENTER. She had been faili
g in health since stricken with a first cerebral hemorrhage three yea
s ago.
In early life, she worked at the silk mill in Jersey Shore, then fo
a short time during the 1930’s at a short time during the 1930’s a
t the Susquehanna Silk Mill in Lock Haven. The family had lived in th
e Lamar area 31 years.
Mrs. BARNER was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lock Ha
ven.
Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Lois WENIG, College Pa
k, Md.; seven grandchildren and two brothers, Lewis and Clyde CARPENT
ER, of Jersey Shore.
