    Francis R. Bigelow, 75, of 211 West Village Drive, Nisbet, went to b
    e with his Lord Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the Williamsport Home follow
    ing a courageous battle with cancer.

    He and his wife, the former Ruth Ann Day observed their 51st wedding a
    iversary on Aug. 24, 2007.

    Fran was a Navy veteran who served during the Korean War and was a lif
    e member of the Duboistown V.F.W. Post #7863.

    Fran was a member of the Nisbet United Methodist Church, the Pleasan
    t View Hunting Club in Morris, the Lycoming Creek Anglers Associatio
    and the PA Game Feeders Association. He was an avid hunter, fisherma
    and NASCAR, Jeff Gordon fan. Fran also enjoyed baseball and played s
    oftball locally for many years.

    Fran retired from Weis Markets in 1991 after 35 years of service a
    s a Grocery Manager in Montoursville.

    Born April 12, 1933 in Sodus Point, NY, he was the son of Cortland W
    . and Margaret E. Turner Bigelow.

    Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Joseph A. (Linda) of Willi
    amsport; Todd F. (Lori) of Montoursville; daughters, Brenda L. (Scott
    ) Slocum of Montoursville; Kimberly A. Starr of Williamsport; Wanda M
    . (Matthew) Fortin of Hughesville; 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchi
    ldren and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Fran was predeceased by three brothers, Harry, Edwin, Cortland Jr. an
    d a sister, Marcella Follmer.

    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Knight-Confer’s 1914 Mem
    orial Ave. with Rev. Dr. John F. Piper, Jr. officiating. There will b
    e a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial wil
    l be in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.

    The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions may b
    e made to Susquehanna Cancer Center, 1001 Grampian Blvd.

    Carrie C. Day, 93, formerly of Nisbet, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003
    , at the Roseview Center in Williamsport, where she resided. Born Oct
    . 1, 1909, in Loganton, she was the daughter of William H. and Sadie H
    . (Hoppie) Knarr. In 1972 she retired as a seamstress from the forme
    Sharwell Manufacturing Co. in Williamsport. She was a lifetime membe
    of the Nisbet Volunteer Fire Co. Carrie is survived by three sons
    , Donald R. (Sonja) Day of Nisbet, David F. (Shirley) Day of Muncy, Jo
    hn A. (Margaret L.) Day of Williamsport; a daughter, Ruth Ann (Francis
    ) Bigelow of Nisbet; a sister, Betty Ranthum of Arkansas; a sister-in-
    law, Laura Knarr of Williamsport; 29 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchil
    dren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her hus
    band, David H. Day; and by three sons, Floyd L., Harold W. and Charle
    s W. Day. The funeral will be Monday, 11 a.m., at Spitler Funeral Hom
    e, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with Rev. Dr. John F. Piper of Grac
    e United Methodist Church, Williamsport, officiating. Burial will be i
    Twin Hills Memorial Park, &031. Friends will be received in the fune
    al home Monday from 10 to 11 a.m.
