    Larry A. Haagen Larry A. Haagen, 72, of Nittany, passed away on Tuesda
    y, January 29, 2019, with his family by his side. Larry was born in Be
    llefonte, a son of the late Harry 'Boots' Haagen and Ruth (Waltz) Haag
    en, who survives in Nittany. He is survived by his wife, Paula, and th
    eir children, Amy and David, both of rural Centre Hall. Also survivin
    g is his son-in-law, Chris Evans; daughter-in-law, Amy (Fanning) Haage
    ; five grandsons, Adam, Chase and Gage Evans and Ethan and Landon Haa
    gen; and his sister, Judy Seymour, of Nittany. Larry was a graduate o
    f Bellefonte Area High School and Williamsport Technical Institute wit
    h a certificate in welding. He served stateside in the Army National G
    uard during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he was employe
    d by Cerro Metals in Bellefonte for over 20 years. Larry was of the Lu
    theran faith. He was a member of the American Legion Post 33 in Bellef
    onte, the Millheim Fire Company, the Undine Fire Company, and the Walk
    er Township Fire Company. Larry was a strong person in both body and m
    ind and he valued hard work. He could fix almost anything. He enjoye
    d woodworking, shooting darts, riding motorcycles, gardening, making h
    omemade wine, the Phillies, and watching history and travel DVDs. Hi
    s retirement years were spent with his children and grandchildren. H
    e would stop at the drop of a hat to go to them and lend a helping han
    d. He was very proud of his five grandsons, and enjoyed babysitting an
    d attending their baseball games. He loved to tell stories and visit w
    ith friends and old work mates. In accordance with Larry's wishes, fun
    eral services will be private. The family would like to invite all tho
    se that knew Larry to join them to celebrate his life and share memori
    es at the Brown's Hill Tavern in Lamar on Monday, February 4, 2019, fr
    om 57 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to t

    , 1922, in Beech Creek Twp, he was a son of the late William W. and Ev
    a B. Mayes Haagen. On Jan. 12, 1946, he married Ruth Waltz, who surviv
    es at home. He was employed with Warner Co. and retired after 38 year
    s of service. Prior to that, he worked for E.D. Myers and Yeagles Movi
    g and Storage in Lock Haven. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Chu
    ch in Snydertown, where he served on the church council, was a Sunda
    y school superintendent and sang in the church choir. A charter membe
    of the Walker Twp. Fire Co, he was in the fire company marching uni
    t and was a member of the Walker Twp. team of the fireman's bowling le
    ague. He was a member of the Crossroads Campers, the Bells and Beaus S
    quare Dancing Club, Bellefonte Lodge 268 of the Free and Accepted Maso
    s, the Rural Arch Masons, Constans Commandery #33, both of Bellefonte
    , and the Centre Forest #129 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, of State College
    . He enjoyed fishing and collecting John Deere memorabilia. Upon his r
    etirement, Harry and his wife, Ruth, resided in the winter months in O
    keechobee, Fla. He was blessed to have his children, grandchildren an
    d great-granddaughters in close proximity to him, and being able to sh
    are in their lives and watching the children grow. He also enjoyed cam
    ping at the Grange Fair and spending time chatting with all his friend
    s. Surviving are a daughter, Judy Seymour and her husband, Jeff, of Sn
    ydertown; a son, Larry A. Haagen and his wife, Paula, of Snydertown; s
    isters, Ida Cunnane, of Beech Creek and Gladys Dreese, of Pleasant Gap
    ; four grandchildren, Kelly Berkey and husband, Franklin, Amy Haagen E
    vans and husband, Chris, David Haagen and fiance, Amy Fanning, and Nic
    holas Seymour; and two great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Allison Berke
    y. He was preceded in death by six sisters, Eunice, Pearl and Barbar
    a Peters, Elizabeth Poorman, Iva Mantle and Dorothy Haines, and six br
    others, Francis, Rlynn, Albert, Harold "Whitey," Sylvester "Johnny," a
    d Cyrus, "Bill." Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2006
    , at the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard, wit

    l Center. She was born on October 27, 1926 a daughter of the late Joh
    and Ethel Gunsallus Waltz. On January 12, 1946, in Lock Haven she wa
    s united in marriage to the love of her life, Harry " Boots" Haagen, w
    ho preceded her. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Judy ( Jeffrey) Sey
    mour, Daughter-in-law, Paula Haagen, grandchildren , Amy Haagen ( Chri
    s) Evans,David ( Amy ) Haagen, Kelly ( Franklin ) Berkey, Nicholas ( J
    ennifer ) Seymour, great-grandchildren, Adam, Chase, and Gage Evans, a

    ant and Owen Seymour. She was "Nana" to her beloved grand and great-g
    andchildren and she loved spending time with all of them. Ruth is als
    o survived by two brothers, Carl and Robert Waltz. Along with her pare
    ts and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Larry Haagen, an
    d a brother, Loyd Waltz. Ruth lived a full life. In her earlier year
    s she had worked at the Lock Haven Silk Mill as well as Woolworth's. A
    fter marrying "Boots" they bought their home in Snydertown were they a
    quired the Larch Tree Filling Station. She enjoyed camping, particular
    ly at Grange Fair, and she also enjoyed cooking and baking for her fam
    ily and loved her flower gardens. She liked knitting, crocheting, an
    d sewing, square dancing, and in her retirement years her and her husb
    and lived at Lake Okeechobee, Florida, in the winter months enjoying t
    he fishing and the sunshine there at the lake. She was a member of St
    . Mark Lutheran Church and in her earlier years had been a Sunday Scho
    ol Teacher and a member of the choir, and the Willing Workers. She wa
    s a member of the Walker Twp. Fire Company Auxillary, The Red Hat's, T
    he Frustated Housewive's Bowling League, and Eastern Star. A service c
    elebrating her life will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 11:00 a
    .m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Snydertown Road, Howard, with Pasto
    Evelyn Wald officiating. Friends will be received on Wednesday, Marc
    h 6, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Mai
