Kyle Monty Strouse, 14, of Centre Hall

Kyle Monty Strouse, 14, of Centre Hall, died Dec. 26, 2002, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Mahoning Twp, Montour Co, PA in Danville.

Born Feb. 8, 1988, in Govenor, N.Y., he was a son of Douglas R. Strouse, of Centre Hall, and Nevins Luscom Strouse.

He was a ninth-grade student at Penns Valley Area High School, where he played on the varsity soccer team, and was active in band, chorus, the drama club and the young life club.

He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Centre Hall, where he was active in the youth group and served in a leadership position in children's and youth activities, including Vacation Bible School. He served as an acolyte and as an assistant Sunday School teacher. He also was active in the Logos program.

He began playing soccer at age 4 and also played Little League baseball. He especially enjoyed talking, playing practical jokes and drawing. He also enjoyed fishing, playing computer games and playing the saxophone.

He was a member of the Centre Hall 4-H program, showing swine and goats at the Grange Fair. He was a member of the Centre County 4-H Goatee Club and the Penns Valley 4-H Rams, where he was involved in Rocket Club, building rockets, and woodworking, having made a clock as one of his projects, and tie-dyeing activities.

He worked part-time during the Grange Fair at Luse's Market on the fairgrounds.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Monty and Patricia Sharer Strouse, of Centre Hall, with whom he resided; his paternal great-grandmothers, F. Evelyn Sharer, of Centre Hall, and Jean Strouse, of Lamar; a half sister, Kacandra Dawn-Marie Strouse, of State College; a brother, Kelly Ray Strouse, at home; an aunt Sherri and her husband, Terry Corl; an uncle Kenneth and his wife, Melissa Strouse; as well as several great aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke's Luthera Church, 301 N. PA Ave., Centre Hall.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, also at the chuch, with the Rev. Russell L. Sauerwein officiating.

Burial will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, Centre Hall.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service, 226 S. PA Ave., Centre Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the youth group at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 331, Centre Hall, Potter Twp, Centre Co, PA 16828, or to the Penns Valley High School Young Life Program, in care of Jill Geesey, 4545 Penns Valley Road, Spring Mills, Gregg Twp, Centre Co, PA 16875.

Gene Heckman

A funeral for Gene Heckman, 68, of Canyon Creek, Mont., will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Retz Funeral Home, Helena, Mont. The Rev. Jim Fiedler will officiate. Burial will be in Barners Cemetery, Liverpool, Perry Co, PA.

Mr. Heckman died Feb. 12, 2002, after a short illness.

Born Feb. 18, 1933, he resided in Canyon Creek. He was retired from the Air Force Special Forces. He was very active with the Brotherhood of Vietnam Veterans. He was a former resident of Vacaville.

Mr. Heckman is survived by his wife, Kathy Ann of Canyon Creek; sons, Robert of Alameda and Eric; daughter, Kimberly.

A visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m., Friday in The Retz Mortuary in Montana.

Arrangements were handled by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Ralph H. “Nick” Barner, 80, of 1409 Cemetery St., Jersey Shore, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at ManorCare in Jersey Shore. He was born in Sunbury, Aug. 25, 1921, a son of Gardner O. and Eva Shuman Barner. He was a corporal with the U.S. Army during World War II.
On March 7, 1946, he married the former Rosie Halstead, who survives. Private family funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, “A Life Celebration Home,” 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with Pastor Richard D. Waters of the First United Methodist Church of Williamsport, officiating. Interment will be in Jersey Shore Cemetery. His family suggests contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association, 71 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, Pa. 18701

Ralph H. (Nick) Barner, 80, of 1407 Cemetery St., Jersey Shore, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Manor Care in Jersey Shore.

He was born in Sunbury, Aug. 25, 1921, a son of Gardner O. and Eva Shuman Barner.

He was a corporal with the U.S. Army during WWII. At one time, he was a member of Antes Fort United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed refinishing furniture, caning chairs and woodworking.

On March 7, 1946, he married the former Rosie Halstead, who survives.

He was employed for over 34 years with Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Nancy Ingraham and her husband John of Jersey Shore; two sons, Steven J. Barner and his wife Barbara of Mill Hall and Gary W. Barner and his wife Maryann of Jersey Shore; one brother, Raymond Barner of Binghamton, NY and one sister, Eva Jones of Owego, NY; six grandchildren Jennifer, Reggie, Chad, A
manda, Kevin and Patrick and one great-granddaughter,Sabrina. He was predeceased by two brothers, Paul and "Gabe" Barner and an infant sister.

Private family funeral services will be held at 1:30 Wednesday at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with Pastor Richard D. Waters, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Williamsport, officiating. Interment will be in Jersey Shore Cemetery.

Ralph C. Kimmel, 89, of Elliottsburg, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in the Harrisburg Hospital. He was born April 9, 1929 in New Bloomfield to Earl and Lillian (Brunner) Kimmel. He was a member of the Faith United Church, Ickesburg, the NRA, New Bloomfield Ambulance League and Ickesburg Fire. Co.
Ralph was the widower of Beatrice Kimmel and is survived by his daughter, Joanne Berrier and husband Ken of Carlisle; brother Russel L. Kimmel and wife Mary of New Bloomfield; 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Kimmel; daughter, Dorine Sheffer and sisters, Mary Beard, Sarah Reisinger, Evelyn Baker, Ruth George and Myrtle Kimmel.
Services will be held Monday, January 7 from the Faith United Church, 6968 Veterans Way, Ickesburg at 2 PM with the Reverend Elaine Moyer officiating. There is a viewing from 1 PM until the service. Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery, Loysville.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions in memory of Ralph are requested to the Faith United Church.
