Susan B. Christiansen
CLIFTON SPRINGS -
Susan B. Christiansen, 46, of 3196 Route 488, went home to be with th
e Lord after a long illness Friday, July 25, 2003 at her home.
Friends called Sunday, July 27 and Monday, July 28 at the Canandaigu
a Baptist Church. Funeral services followed at the church, with the Re
v. Doug Allen officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Barner Learning Cente
, Davao City, Philippines, c/o the Canandaigua Baptist Church, 5026 N
orth Rd., Canandaigua, 14424.
Susan was born July 26, 1956, in Fulton, the daughter of Harry E. an
d Elizabeth Brackett Barner. She was a member of the Canandaigua Bapti
st Church, where she was a former trustee and was involved in youth mi
istry. She loved singing, skiing and being involved with the youth.
Susan graduated from State University at Geneseo with a master's degre
e. She was a special education teacher for the Phelps-Clifton Spring
s School District for the last 14 years. Prior to that she worked at t
he Finger Lakes Community College Resource Center. She was a member o
f the New York State Teachers Association.
Susan helped run the family farm with her husband, Richard.
She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Richard Christianse
; her parents, Harry and Elizabeth Barner of Rensselaer; sisters an
d brothers, Virginia (John) Bruce of Rensselaer, Stephen (Jeanne) Barn
er of Vermont, Harry Barner Jr. of Rensselaer, the Rev. Philip (Sandra
) Barner of Elwood City, Pa., the Rev. Paul (Elvira) Barner of Davao C
ity, Philippines, and Timothy (Amy) Barner of Middletown, OH; materna
l grandmother, Mildred Brackett of Nedrow; mother and father-in-law, J
ohn and Pauline Christiansen of Phelps; brothers-in-law, the Rev. Denn
is (Judith) Christiansen of Elmira, Terry Christiansen of Toronto, Dar
yl (MaryBeth) Christiansen of Fairport and Gregg Christiansen of Genev
a; sister-in-law, Kirsten (Christopher) Palmeri of Canandaigua; and ma

She was predeceased by a brother, Robert, and a sister, Marie.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps.
