Barner, Warren M.
Warren M. Barner, 78, of Hershey, passed away Saturday, January 18, 20
03, at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home.
Born December 3, 1924, in Mifflintown, PA, he was the son of the lat
e Stanley C. Barner, Sr., and Lillian (Schaeffer) Barner.
He retired as an advertising sales supervisor with L.M. Berry & Compan
y of Dayton, OH, where he was awarded membership in the President's Cl
ub, the company's highest sales honor.
He was a World War II Navy Veteran, serving with the North Atlantic Fl
eet; a life member of the U. S. Navy League and a member of it's Harri
sburg Council.
He was a graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown; served a
s president of the Class of 1942. He also graduated from the Universit
y of Colorado, Boulder, where he was a member of the Varsity "C" Club
. A world traveler, he was a former board member of the Hershey Area A
ARP; a charter member of the Hershey Museum; a life member of the Lewi
stown Elks Lodge 663 and a member of Derry Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Williams) Barner of Hershey; a dau
ghter, Lauren E. Barner of Norristown; two brothers, Leroy E. Barner o
f Ann Arbor, Michigan and Stanley C. Barner, Jr., of Mifflintown; a si
ster, Maxine B. Grandon of Mechanicsburg and several nieces and nephew
s.
Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the family's con
venience. A memorial service will be held in Derry Presbyterian Churc
h on Saturday, January 25th, at 1 p.m., with the Reverend Dr. Richar
d L. Houtz officiating. Hoover Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Hersh
ey, is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Derry Presby
terian Church, 248 East Derry Road, Hershey, PA 17033 or to the Lebano
