R. Daniel BARNER, 81, of R.D. 1, Box 66, Huntingdon. died Sunday, Nov.
18, 2001, at 9:30 am., at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Mr
Barner had been in failing health. Born April 20, 1920, in Tyrone, he
was a son of the late George Lee and Grace (Smith) Barner. He married
W. Ruth Rudolph Oct. 14, 1944. at the Columbia Avenue United Methodist
Church in Tyrone, with the Rev. W. W. Willard officiating. Mrs. Barner
survives at home, along with a son, Dana J. Barner of Huntingdon. RD.,
three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by two brothers and three sisters. Mr. Barner was a member of th
e
Trinity United Church of Christ, McConnellstown, where he served on th
e
consistory and as a deacon and elder. Educated in the Tyrone area
schools, he graduated from Tyrone High School in 1938. He enjoyed
working in sales and was employed by the Isett family with Huntingdo
TV
Cable Co, and also the Fred B. Bayer Co. He retired as a youth
counselor for the Employment and Training Program. Mr. Bamer was a
member of the Blair County Chapter of the Sons of the American
Revolution and was a 30-plus-year member and past president of the
Woodcock Valley Lions Club. He enjoyed reading; he read an untold numb
er
of books in his lifetime, primarily history. Funeral services will be
held Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m., at the Trinity United Church of
Christ, Station Avenue, McConnellstown, with the Rev. Dr. Keith A.
Kensinger officiating.
