Donald A. Barner, 74, of Howard, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at Loc
k Haven Hospital.
Born Oct. 4, 1927, in Mill Hall, he was a son of the late Frank W. an
d Margaret M. Flasher Barner.
On Feb. 28, 1957, in Owensburg, Ky., he married Edith M. Price, who di
ed on March 14, 2000.
He was retired from the U.S. Army following 231/2 years of service a
s a sergeant first class. He was in Company C, 67th Signal Battalion
. He served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
He is survived by four sisters, Jean Strouse and Alma Doreen Berans, b
oth of Mill Hall, Gloria Thompson, of Bellefonte, and Betty Weaver, o
f Jersey Shore, and two brothers, Earl Barner, of Alabama, and Dale Ba
er, of Glen Ridge.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death b
y a son, Robert S. Barner, who died on Aug. 27, 1992.
Visitation will be from 6 to
8 p.m. Tuesday at Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St. in Mi
ll Hall.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with th
e Rev. Jennett Wertz, pastor of the Lamar and Clintondale United Metho
dist churches officiating.
Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, &009 in Montgomer
y.
