Marguerite T. (Ohnmeiss) Norris, 91 of 424 Glenwood Ave., Williamsport
, passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at the Williamsport Home.
Born Dec. 13, 1926, in the Newberry section of Williamsport, she was t
he daughter of Robert and Margaret (Murnane) Ohnmeiss.
She graduated from the Williamsport High School, class of 1946. She i
s retired from the Williamsport Nursing Home as a nurse's aide. She al
so worked as a personal caregiver for several families in the Williams
port area.
Marguerite was a founding member and ardent volunteer for St. Joseph t
he Worker Parish bingo, which celebrates its 40th year this April.
In 1952, she married James G. Norris Sr., of Williamsport. Together th
ey celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on December 27th.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by six sons and three daug
hters: Anastasia Toner, of Loyalsock, James Jr. (Linda), of Randolph
, New Jersey, Christopher (Sueanne), of Williamsport, Donald (Lori), o
f Shreveport, La., Cornelius (Kendra), of Scottsdale, Ariz., Margare
t (Kirk) Osborne, of Rockford, Ill., Daniel (Beth), of Duncansville, P
a., Michael (Flor), of Wake Forest, N.C., and Judith (Jonathan) Helms
, of Charlotte, N.C. There are 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchil
dren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a sister, Luc
ille (Richard) Hudson, of Virginia Beach, Va.
She was preceded in death by a son, Brian; her parents; six brothers
, Donald, John, Cornelius, Robert, Paul and Joseph; and three sisters
, Claire, Anastasia and Mary Ellen.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Sanders Funeral Home, 821 Di
amond St., on Friday, March 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. A rosary will be recite
d at 4:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph the Worke
Parish, 700 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Mar
ch 3. Her Pastor, Rev. Brian VanFossen, will officiate the service.
Burial will follow at the Mount Carmel Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers in her memory.
