Marguerite I. Powers
Marguerite I. Powers, 84, of Avis, residing in Hendersonville, Tenn.
, for the past five years with her son, Chester W. Powers, his wife, V
icki and granddaughter, Alexandria, was called to rest by her Heavenl
y Father on Saturday, March 4.
Known to many as “Aunt Peg,” she was born on April 20, 1921 in Rauchto
wn, a daughter of the late William E. and Vera M. Bailey Welshans of A
vis.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Avis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester L. Powers of Avis i
March of 1999.
Mrs. Powers worked for Bobbie Brooks of Jersey Shore and Lock Haven an
d Woolrich Woolen Mills of Woolrich for a total of 28 years.
She enjoyed caring for and playing with her granddaughter, Alex.
Surviving are one son, Chet and his wife, Vicki, and granddaughter, Al
exandria Bailey Powers, all of Hendersonville, Tenn.; five sisters, Es
ther Kephart of Avis, Maxine Charles of Jersey Shore, Pauline Reever o
f York, Helen Shemory of Waterville and Beverly Rhinehart of Avis; an
d one brother, Robert Welshans of Hudson, Fla.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Welshans of Jersey Sh
ore.
Her cremation has been finalized. A memorial and burial service will b
e announced at a later date to be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in A
vis.
