Horace Herlocher Sr.

Horace O. "Orie" Herlocher Sr., 82, longtime resident of the Loganto
area went peacefully to be with the Lord on Jan. 4, 2010 at Manor Ca
e, Jersey Shore, surrounded by his loving family.
Horace retired from Avco Lycoming Motors in 1987, and was well known f
or his post retirement service at Schrack's Valley Service in Loganto
until 2006.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served honorably during WWII in the Sou
th Pacific.
Horace was a proud member of the N.R.A., an avid hunter and a lover o
f outdoors activities and his family.
He enjoyed woodworking and socializing with his friends.
Horace served as Green Twp Zoning Officer for several years during pos
t retirement.
Born Jan. 28, 1927 in Milan, Mich., he was the son of the late Harve
y Quigg and Elizabeth (Alford) Herlocher.
Along with his parents he was predeceased by all of his brothers and s
isters.
Surviving are his loving wife Mary Lou (Miller) of nearly 62 years; th
ee sons Thomas (Tammy) Herlocher of Palestine, Ill., Carl (Carol) Her
locher of Jersey Shore and Horace Jr. (Debbie) Herlocher of Montoursvi
lle; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at 1 p.m. i
the Wayne P. Urbine Funeral Home, Inc., 95 E. Main St., Loganton, Pa
. with Pastor Ken Geisewite officiating. Visitation will be held in th
e funeral home on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. Final inermen
t will be held in Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sugar Valley Church o
f the Brethren, 2305 E. Winter Road, Loganton, PA, 17747.
