Evelyn "Eppie" Stephens, 84, of Caldwell died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005 at home, of natural causes. Memorial graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. Services are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Eppie was born June 2, 1920 at Stapleton, Neb., the daughter of Lester and Hazel Raynard Barner. She married Edgar G. "Barney" Stephens June 26, 1938 in Tyron, Neb. They moved their family to eastern Washington, where they lived for 11 years and they operated a livestock auction service in Walla Walla and Pasco. They moved to the LaGrande area, where they were in the livestock business, and then came to Caldwell in 1959 where Barney operated OK Livestock for five years. Barney passed away April 14, 1997. Eppie was a wonderful spirit with a sharp and witty sense of humor who was never at a loss for words. Eppie is survived by her children Bill Stephens of Caldwell, Pat and her husband Jim Pollard of Caldwell, Fred and his wife Becky Stephens of Nampa, Bob and his wife Linda Stephens of Parma, Penny and her husband Paul Van
Wassenhove of Star, and Jake and his wife Yvonne of Weiser; her brothes and sisters Barney Barner, Thelma Rodman, Melvin Barner, Bob Barner, Russ Barner, Keith Barner, Jim Barner and Mert Dawson; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Memoria
