CHESTER GERALD BOSTWICK, 51, killed in railroad accident
ENOLA - Chester Gerald Bostwick, 51, of 122 Creekside Drive, was
killed instantly at 4:30 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by a
locomotive in the Amtrak railroad yards, Overbrook.
Mr. Bostwick, a conductor on a freight train, stumbled into the
path of a train. He was pronounced dead by a Philadelphia medical
examiner.
Mr. Bostwick was born Nov. 12, 1924, at Newport, the son of Chester
M. Bostwick, Sunbury, and Rhoda A. Barner Bostwick, Camp Hill.
He lived for a number of years in OH while a youth, returning to
the Enola area in 1939. He began employment with the railroad in
1949.
Mrs. Bostwick served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre of
Operations. He was wounded at the Anzio beachhead and was hornoably
discharged in 1948.
Mr Bostwick was a member of the American Legion Post 751, Enola;
West Shore Democratic Club; and the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen,
Harrisburg.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Misses
Carol and Patti, both at home; four sons, Chester G. Jr., Barry A.,
Brian B. and James A., all at home; one sister, Mrs. Robert Eberly of
Mechanicsburg; and two brothers, Park I. Bostwick, Enola, and Richard
E. Bostwick of Summerdale.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the George P.
Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool. The Rev. T. V. Miller, retired pastor
of the East Newport Church of God, will officiate. Burial will be in
the Barner's (Saint John's) Lutheran Church Cemetery Liverpool RD 1
, Perry Co, PA, Liverpool RD1.
There will be no viewing.
