James L. Barner

James L. Barner, age 94, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on December 1, 2023 at Manchester Commons after an extended illness. He was born on December 27, 1928 in Williamsport, PA, the son of the late Lee R. and Ruth E. Moore Barner.

He served in the US Marine Corp during WWII. He was employed with the National Weather Service for many years.
He enjoyed camping.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Barner in 2009 and his son Jimmy Barner.

He is survived by one daughter Linda and her partner Carol and one son Clay Barner (Pam), and one grandson Zachary.

Private services were conducted through the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.

Jimmy W. Barner, 59, of Emerado, ND passed away Thursday, February 13
, 2014 at his home in Emerado.

Jimmy Wayne Barner was born December 23, 1954 in Williamsport, PA th
e son of James and Helen (Morgan) Barner. He was raised in Erie, PA a
d graduated from McDowell High School in Erie. He entered the Unite
d States Air Force on November 3, 1972. He served in Air Force Missil
e and Space Systems and in support of Operation Desert Storm and Opera
tion Desert Shield. He retired from military service on November 30
, 1996 at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. Jimmy married Nancy Woods o
August 10, 1979 in Grand Forks and they resided in Emerado. Followi
g his retirement, Jimmy taught Computer Technology at the Grand Fork
s Air Force Base and established and operated, Barner Enterprises an
d Printing. He was an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his sons, Neil (Tina) Woods, Hopkin
s, MO, William “Woody” Woods, Emerado, ND; his father, James Barner, E
ie, PA; a brother, Clay (Pam) Barner, Waterford, PA; a sister, Lind
a Barner, San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Alisha, Taylor, Austi
, Cassie, Brooke, Brady; great-grandchildren, Kamryn, Riley and canin
e friend, Behr.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen; a daughter, Angela Wood
s and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Funeral Service: 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 in the Histori
c Norman Funeral Home-Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel.
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral service in the funeral hom
e on Friday.
Interment: At a later date.
Military Honors: Accorded by the American Legion Post 157, the Vetera
s of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the Grand Forks Air Force Base Hono
Guard.
