    ed Friday Oct. 6, 2006 in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital. He was 76.

    Mr. Barner was born Dec. 5, 1929 in South Williamsport, the son of th
    e late George H. and Florence Schadle Barner.

    Mr. Barner was a carpenter by trade and worked as a millwright for Pla
    ytex in Dover, Del. for 30 years before retirement.

    He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and a member o
    f the American Legion Post #0004 in Seaford, Del. and V.F.W. Post #342
    6 in Muncy.

    He graduated from South Williamsport High School, where he won the Nol
    l award for outstanding athlete.

    Mr. Barner was an avid fisherman and hunter.

    He is survived by his wife, Dorothy O’Connor Barner; three children, K
    aren Bennett and her husband, Mike of San Antonio, Texas, Susan A. Par
    ker of Canandaiqua, N.Y. and Richard S. Barner of Smyrna and three gra
    dchildren, Jay Bennett, currently serving in the United States Air Fo
    ce in Iraq, Kory Parker of Canandiaqua and Clare Barner of Smyrna.

    Graveside services will be Tuesday Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. in Green Lawn Me
    morial Park, Williamsport.

    Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel
    , 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Del.
