Mrs. Geraldine A. Barner, 85, of 1445 Sycamore Road, Montoursville, an
d a former South Williamsport native, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009 a
t Sycamore Manor Health Care Center, Montoursville.

Born Oct. 29, 1923 in South Williamsport, she was the daughter of th
e late Howard J. and Mabel M. Kast Shoup. Her husband of 47 years, Jac
k M. Barner, preceded her in death on May 2, 1996.

Mrs. Barner was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, South Wil
liamsport, where over the years, she had served as a Sunday School tea
cher and as a member of the Altar Guild of the church.

Geraldine was a graduate of the Class of 1941 of the South Williamspor
t High School, and more recently was a member of the "Class of '41 Lun
ch Bunch."

In addition to her late parents and her late husband, Mrs. Barner wa
s also preceded in death by her three late brothers, Eugene, Robert an
d Richard Kast.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Susan L. and her husband, R
obert Christ of Montoursville; a grandson, Randall and his wife, Ashle
y Christ of Montoursville; and two great grandsons.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to the entire staff at Sycamore Mano
for all of their kindness and caring, and to the very special reside
ts of the Sycamore neighborhoods who, over the past three years, hav
e blessed Mrs. Barner with their concern, companionship and joy.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 a
t Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 South Howard St., South Williamsport. H
er pastor, Rev. Maurice C. Frontz, Ill., will officiate. Interment wil
l immediately follow at Montoursville Cemetery.

There will be no visitation. The family will provide the flowers.

The family respectfully declines to receive floral tributes, and sugge
sts that contributions in memory of Mrs. Geraldine A. Barner may be ma
de, if so desired, to Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 South Howard Street
, South Williamsport, PA 17702.

Arrangements are being directed by the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, O
e East Central Ave., South Williamsport.
