Adelia G. Workman, 73, of 230 E. Keller St., Lock Haven, died Sunday
, July 19, 2009 at Williamsport Hospital.
She was born May 9, 1936 in Tylersville, a daughter of the late Alle
and Beatrice Frank Miller.
She was a 1954 graduate of the former Sugar Valley High School and wa
s employed in various departments of Keystone Central School District
, retiring after 24 years of service.
A member of the First Church of Christ, Lock Haven, she also was a mem
ber of the McElhattan Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, an active member an
d volunteer with the Mill Hall Senior Community Center and served a
s a Girl Scout leader and Hemlock Council representative.
She loved to play cards and was an avid bingo player and storyteller
. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Debra Raines and Terry (Larry) Leupo
ld, both of Lock Haven; a son, James "Rusty" Workman of Milesburg; fiv
e sisters, Julia (Walter) Wagner and Mary (Dean) Schmidt, both of Tyle
sville, Linda (Robert) Arment of Erie, Audrey Hanson of Elburn, Ill
. and Grace Weaver of Loganton; a brother, Robert Miller of Huntingdon
; eight grandchildren, Heather and Brian Raines, Jeremy, Justin and Sa
mantha Leupold, Nichole Taylor, Amanda Rhine and Tanya Workman; thre
e great-grandchildren, Trevor and Carter Rhine and Olivia Taylor; an
d several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Allen Workman.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Donald G. Walker F
uneral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, with the Rev. Steve Salmo
officiating. Private burial services will be at the convenience of t
he family in the Tylersville Cemetery. Friends will be received at th
e funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may b
e made to the Mill Hall senior center or the McElhattan Fire Co. Ladie
s Auxiliary.
