A homemaker, she enjoyed quilting, gardening, jigsaw pu?les and playin

Grace A. Persun, 89, of 79 Summer Mountain Road, a lifelong resident o
f Sugar Valley, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, De
c. 2, 2011, at her home.

She was born Dec. 6, 1921, in Tylersville, a daughter of the late Harr
y H. and Mae Frantz Miller. She was married to Gene W. Persun on Oct
. 19, 1963.

She graduated from the Sugar Valley School in 1939. Grace worked at Pe
qua Lure Co. and retired from Gettig Pharmaceutical Co.

Grace was a lifelong member of St. Johns United Church of Christ of Ty
lersville, where she served on church council, as well as numerous oth
er committees. She was a lifelong member of the Southern Clinton Count
y Sportsmen Club. Grace's greatest joy was spending time with her fami
ly and friends. An avid outdoors person, she enjoyed gardening, especi
ally growing flowers, hunting and fly fishing. She also enjoyed travel
ing, particularly their annual family Canadian fishing trip.

Grace is survived by her husband, Gene W. Persun of Tylersville; a son
, Randell (Vonnie) Mark of Lamar; granddaughters, Julie (Michael) Geye
and Jinell (Scott) Krout of Mill Hall; six great-grandchildren, Chel
sea, Michaela and Megan Geyer, and Jared, Jordan and Mya Krout; and nu
merous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd E. Mark; three s
isters, Hilera Miller, Freeda Wertz and Genevieve Barner; and three br
others, Harry H. Miller, Allen F. Miller and Richard T. Miller.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, in the Wayn
e P. Urbine Funeral Home, Inc., 95 E. Main St., Loganton and 10 to 1
1 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the St. Johns United Church of Christ, Ty
lersville, followed by a celebration of Grace's life at 11 a.m. conduc
ted by Rev. Rodger L. Snyder. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery

dical Center in Hershey. Shawn was born July 3, 1974, a son of the lat
e Elaine E. Miller McClintic and Stanley E. McClintic, who survives i
rural Spring Mills. He was a 1992 Graduate of Penns Valley Area Hig
h School, where he was active in the band, having played in every comp
etition available during high school. Continuing with his love of musi
c, he graduated from Mansfield University with a bachelor of arts degr
ee in music. He was currently working on a masters degree in music a
t Penn State University, where he was also working as a graduate assis
tant. During high school, Shawn worked at Gettig Pharmaceuticals in Sp
ing Mills. He played the trumpet in numerous local bands, including t
he Deacons of Dixieland. Shawn was proficient with many brass instrume
ts, but was devoted to playing the trumpet. He had played in a cruis
e band for Carnival Cruises, served as an instruction assistant with t
he Penns Valley, Bald Eagle Valley and Holidaysburg marching bands, an
d prior to going to work on his masters degree, was employed by Rober
t M. Sides music store in State College. He was a member of St. John
s United Church of Christ in Tylersville. In addition to his father, h
e is survived by a sister, Cindy L. Brown, of Millheim, and a niece, C
assidy. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2

The 2:30 p.m. ceremony was performed at the Wilkinson Memorial Unite

The bride was given in marriage by her father, Douglas Barner.

The bride wore a white satin wedding gown accented with crystal and bl
ue beading.

The back was beautifully done in corset style with an elegant bow. Sh
e wore a crystal tiara and a two-tiered veil that was outlined with li
ght blue satin ribbon.

Maid of honor was Sabrina Bernstein. Bridesmaids were Meredith Gartner

The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson of Rauchtown and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Barner of Loganton. Vanessa is employed by the PA Game Commission and will graduate from Lock Haven University in December. She is a 2011 graduate of Central Mountain High School.

The groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Geraty of Mill Hall, Billy Lee Walker (Phillis) and Vesta Schack of Flemington and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Poorman of Lamar. Michael, who is employed by PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, is a 2013 Graduate of PA College of Technology and a 2010 graduate of Central Mountain High School.

Escorted by her father and given away by her parents, the bride wore a strapless A-line gown with beautiful embellishments. She wore a pearl tiara with embellished veil and carried a bouquet of fall colored roses.

The maid of honor and bridesmaids wore short strapless champagne dresses. The groom and his groomsmen wore black tuxes with mossy oak vests and ties.

Ryan da Costa-Miller Obituary

State College, Pennysylvania--Ryan unexpectedly passed away on April 17, 2023 at the age of 31. Ryan was born in State College and was baptized at the St. John United Church of Christ in Tylersville, Pennsylvania on June 28, 1992. Ryan attended State College Area High School and Penn State. He was awarded the Diversified Occupation Outstanding Student award. While at Penn State he became a brother of Alpha Rho Chi and cherished being a part of the APX family as well as participating in THON activities.

On October 3, 2020, he married the love of his life, Rondinelle da Costa-Miller in Central Park. Ryan had an infectious smile, striking blue eyes, and a contiguous laugh that captured everyone's hearts. He loved to travel, especially to New York City, and try new foods. He was adventurous, unapologetically himself, outspoken, and the life of every party. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and camping at Hills Creek. He was the reigning champ at Skip-Bo and Super Smash Bros. and looked forward to the annual bow shoot. Ryan strived to be a friend to any animal he came across on his journeys. Most of all, he loved the time he spent with his family and friends.

For 16 years Ryan gave his best at Wegmans serving as cashier, produce member, store operations intern, service desk member, coffee barista, seafood associate, cookie decorator, bread baker, baking team leader, sub shop team leader, service team leader, and most recently, bake shop team leader.

Ryan is survived by those who he loved and who also loved him to the moon and back, his husband, Rondinelle da Costa-Miller. His father, Larry Miller. His mother, Crystal (Bressler), and stepfather, John Switalski. His brother, Martin and sister, Olivia Switalski. His mother-in-law, Maria Geralda Dutra da Costa and brother-in-law, Riccelly da Costa of Brazil.
