    Mrs. M. Mae Lyter, 92, of Millerstown RR2, died at 11:00 p.m. Saturday

    23, 1997 at Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield, where she ha
    d resided
    since May 14, 1997. Born May 30, 1905 in Juniata Co, she was the daug
    hter
    of the late John L. and Daisy Irene [Zeiders] Gelnett.
    November 14, 1928 she married Roy Curtis Lyter, who preceded her in de
    ath
    December 31, 1960.
    Mrs. Lyter graduated in 1926 from Millerstown High School, furthered h
    er
    education at Millersville State Teachers College and received her teac
    hing
    certificate from Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove. For many year
    s she taught
    school at Susquehanna Elementary School, Juniata Co, and taught in the
    grammar schools in her area of Juniata County.
    A life member of St. James United Methodist Church, Millerstown RR2, s
    he
    taught Sunday school and served as pianist when needed. She was als
    o a member
    of the Millerstown Ambulance League and enjoyed reading.
    Surviving are five children: Ronald E. Lyter, Willow Street, PA; Gera
    ld M.
    Lyter, Millerstown RR2; John W. Lyter, at home; Connie L. Byers, Mille
    stown
    RR1; and Sally A. Losch, China; one brother, Roy Gelnett, Millerstown
    ; two
    sisters, Violet Light, Millerstown and Sara Hoover, Millerstown RR2; 1
    1
    grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Oscar Gelnett; o
    e
    grandson, Randall Scott Lyter; and one granddaughter, Rosie Byers, i
    1979.
    The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, August 28 at 2:00 p.m
    . at St.
    John [Barners] Lutheran Church, Liverpool RR1, with Rev. Peter H. Kueb
    ler and
    Rev. Salvatore E. Buonocore presiding. Interment will be in the adjoi
    ing
    church cemetery.
    Friends will be received by the family Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m
    . at the
    George P. Garman Funeral Home, 606 North Front Street, Liverpool, an
    d Thursday
    from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.
    Memorial contributions may be made to St. James United Methodist Churc
    h, RR2,
    Millerstown, PA 17062.

    Constance L. Byers, 87, of Millerstown, passed away October 27, 2021. She was the daughter of Roy C. Lyter and M. Mae (Gelnett) Lyter. She was born in Seven Stars, Juniata County April 29, 1934. Connie is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Lewis, and three daughters, Cindy (Don) Soule, Deb (Bob) Hines, and Gayle Byers along with three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is predeceased by a daughter, Rose. She is survived by two brothers, Ronald and Gerald (Betsy) Lyter, and a sister Sally (Darryl) Losch. Connie retired from Greenwood School District as cafeteria manager with over 20 years of service, was the devoted wife of a dairy farmer, and raised 4 daughters. She was a member of the Donnally Mills United Methodist Church. Connie was a great cook with a passion for making delicious dishes and wonderful family meals. Heaven will definitely be eating good now. Services will be held Sunday, October 31 at 2 PM at the Newport Family Life Center, Shortcut Road, Newport with a viewing from 1 PM until the service with Reverend Wyatt Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Newport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to the Donnally Mills United Methodist Church.     John W. Lyter, 63, Millerstown

    — MILLERSTOWN — John W. Lyter, 63, of Millerstown, passed away from in
    juries sustained in an accident on his farm on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011.

    John was born Nov. 15, 1948, in Greenwood Township, Juniata Co, a so
    of the late Roy Curtis and Margaret Mae (Gelnett) Lyter. On Feb. 11
    , 2009, he married the former Linda L. (Arnold) Kuhn, who survives. Hi
    s passing breaks a loving marital union of over two and a half years.

    He was a 1966 graduate of Greenwood High School and furthered his educ
    ation by attending Harrisburg Area Community College, Mansfield Univer
    sity, and Penn State University. John was engaged in potato and grai
    farming. He was previously employed with Bethlehem Steel, Hahn’s Tra
    sportation and Empire Kosher, H. F. Campbell and Son, Inc., and N. O
    . Bonsall & Sons, both of Millerstown.

    He was a former member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, and was a memb
    er of the Greenwood Grange. John loved the outdoors, riding his Mule a
    ll terrain vehicle around the farm, and spending time with his step gr
    andchildren.

    In addition to his wife, he is survived by his stepchildren and thei
    spouses, Chris and Teresa Kuhn and Spring and Mike Gearhart, all o
    f Mount Pleasant Mills, and Tim and Devon Kuhn, of McAlisterville; fiv
    e stepgrandchildren, Jessica and Emily Kuhn, Sierra Gearhart, Ryley an
    d Farryn Kuhn; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Lewis Byers
    , of Millerstown, and Sally and Darryl Losch, of Covington, Ga.; two b
    others and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Sue Lyter, of Willow Street, an
    d Jerry and Betsy Lyter, of Millerstown; and eight nieces and five nep
    hews.

    John was preceded by a niece and a nephew.

    Friends and family are invited to the visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wedn
    esday at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Moun
    t Pleasant Mills and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Leininger’s Luther
    an Church, Leiningers Church Road, Mount Pleasant Mills, followed by t
    he funeral at 11 with the Rev. Patrick L. Sipes officiating.

    Burial will be private.
