John W. Lyter, 63, Millerstown

— MILLERSTOWN — John W. Lyter, 63, of Millerstown, passed away from in
juries sustained in an accident on his farm on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011.
John was born Nov. 15, 1948, in Greenwood Township, Juniata Co, a so
of the late Roy Curtis and Margaret Mae (Gelnett) Lyter. On Feb. 11
, 2009, he married the former Linda L. (Arnold) Kuhn, who survives. Hi
s passing breaks a loving marital union of over two and a half years.
He was a 1966 graduate of Greenwood High School and furthered his educ
ation by attending Harrisburg Area Community College, Mansfield Univer
sity, and Penn State University. John was engaged in potato and grai
farming. He was previously employed with Bethlehem Steel, Hahn’s Tra
sportation and Empire Kosher, H. F. Campbell and Son, Inc., and N. O
. Bonsall & Sons, both of Millerstown.
He was a former member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, and was a memb
er of the Greenwood Grange. John loved the outdoors, riding his Mule a
ll terrain vehicle around the farm, and spending time with his step gr
andchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his stepchildren and thei
spouses, Chris and Teresa Kuhn and Spring and Mike Gearhart, all o
f Mount Pleasant Mills, and Tim and Devon Kuhn, of McAlisterville; fiv
e stepgrandchildren, Jessica and Emily Kuhn, Sierra Gearhart, Ryley an
d Farryn Kuhn; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Lewis Byers
, of Millerstown, and Sally and Darryl Losch, of Covington, Ga.; two b
others and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Sue Lyter, of Willow Street, an
d Jerry and Betsy Lyter, of Millerstown; and eight nieces and five nep
hews.
John was preceded by a niece and a nephew.
Friends and family are invited to the visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wedn
esday at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Moun
t Pleasant Mills and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Leininger’s Luther
an Church, Leiningers Church Road, Mount Pleasant Mills, followed by t
he funeral at 11 with the Rev. Patrick L. Sipes officiating.
Burial will be private.
