Burton L. Schumacher, 77, 4612 Village St., died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Hamot Medical Center after a brief illness
He was born April 21, 1924, in Erie, son of the late Burton A. and Anna Gieringer Schumacher
He graduated from Academy High School.
He served in the U.S. Army 5th Battalion Field Artillery during WWII.
He was employed at Inland Container as a night supervisor in the shipping department and was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church. He also belinged to the Zukor Club.
Survivors include a sister, Mildred Shenk and her husbanc, Richard, of Erie; three nieces, Barbara McGill and her husband, Danton, of Erie, Sandra Godfrey and her husband, Douglas, of Woodbridge, VA, and Debora Niederriter and her husband, Charles, of St. Peter, MN; a sister-in-law, Sophie Ramotowski of Florida; eight great-nephews; a great-niece and three cousins.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 3816 West Lake Road, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayside Presbyterian Church will be officiated by the Rev. Jim Haas and the Rev. Keith Sundberg.
Burial will be at Erie Cemetery.
