, Sr., 77, husband of L. Gail (Ilgen) Monk, of Loganton, passed away a
t home on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, due to cancer. Born on February 26
, 1937, in Mill Hall, he was the son of the late William A. and Edna (
Weaver) Monk. He was a 1955 graduate of the former Sugar Valley High S
chool, Loganton. Gail and Charles were wed on June 11, 1955, and share
d over 59 years of marriage together. He was a veteran of the U.S. Arm
y stationed in Korea. His passion and life's work was in aviation, ear
ing a pilot's license in 1962, and serving many years throughout vari
ous local airports as an instructor, including Air Atlantic in Centr
e Hall, as well as at the Piper Airport in Lock Haven and finally reti
ing in 1999, after 13 years of service as the corporate pilot for Wei
s Markets, Sunbury. In retirement, Charles enjoyed attending and perio
dically hosting weekly card parties with the "Valley" men. Along wit
h his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kathie (David) Spotts; a son
, Charles (Patricia) Monk, Jr.; two sisters, Patricia (Donald) Mille
and Linda (James) Leonard, Jr.; three grandchildren; two step-grandc
hildren; six great grandchildren; and five step-great grandchildren. H
e was predeceased by a son, Brian E. Monk; and a sister, Beverly Boob
. There will be no public services. In lieu of flowers, memorials ma
y be made in Charles' name to the Tylersville Union Cemetery Associati
on, c/o Brian Miller, 3032 Narrows Rd., Loganton, PA 17747. Arrangemen
