Ida M. Cunnane
Ida M. Haagen Cunnane of Holland died Sunday, April 19, 2009 surrounde
d by her loving family at her residence. She was 92.
She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Cunnane Jr., whom she mar
ied in 1944 at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C.
Born in Beech Creek, Ida was one of the 15 children of the late Willia
m and Eva Mayes Haagen, and mother of the late John Michael Cunnane an
d Peter Christopher Cunnane.
Mrs. Cunnane proudly served as a Red Cross volunteer during World Wa
II in Washington, D.C., and then again during the 1980s in Okeechobe
e, Fla. Ida was a long- time manager of the bookstore at Temple Univer
sity's Ambler Campus. She was also very active for the Democratic Part
y in Horsham for many years.
Ida was an avid traveler who enjoyed touring the world. She has bee
a "snow bird" for the last 25 years, having traveled from Beech Cree
k for summers and Okeechobee, Fla., for the winters.
Ida also enjoyed gardening, flowers, hummingbirds, and also quilting
. She was an accomplished quilter, who created over 30 quilts in the l
ast 20 years.
Her constant and faithful companion for the past 20 years was Lady Di
, a Bichon Frise, who will now live with her grandson.
Her greatest enjoyment in life was that she enjoyed raising her own fa
mily and also helped to raise the Sigmund children. She will be sorel
y missed as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister an
d friend.
Ida is survived by her loving children, Marie Louise Kohler and her hu
sband James of North Canton, OH; Robert Jerome Cunnane and his wife Pa
tricia of Tampa, Fla.; and Marian Brenda McCrudden and her husband Jam
es of Holland. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Ruth Cunna
e of Doylestown, 16 loving grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Saturday, April 25, 2009 fro
m 11 a.m. until her memorial service at noon at the Joseph A. Fluehr I
II Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road), Richboro
. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in he
