Barbara May Heaton, 82, of 28 Peters Ave., Beech Creek, died Wednesday
, May 28, 2008 in Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.
Born March 6, 1926 in Beech Creek, she was a daughter of the late Char
les and Eunice Haagan Peters.
On March 21, 1947, she married William H. Heaton, who died Dec. 28, 19
97.
She worked at Sylvania Electric until 1962 and on the assembly line a
t Champion Parts Rebuilders, retiring in 1991.
She was a member of Blanchard Church of Christ, where she attended th
e Married People’s Sunday school class and Wednesday Care Group and wa
s active in many church functions. She loved working with the childre
and for many years she cared for the nursery. She was a snack lady f
or the King’s Kids Program and loved to bake sugar cookies for all. Sh
e was a warm, friendly and caring person who enjoyed being with her fa
mily, friends and church family.
She was also active in the Beech Creek-Blanchard Senior Cheer Club, Bl
anchard Baptist Friendship Circle, the PA Grange and the Senior Circle
. She opened her home to house Lock Haven University foreign languag
e students and several church ministry interns.
Barb made many hand-pieced quilts, crocheted and embroidered. She enjo
yed giving quilts and baby blankets to family and friends. A highligh
t of her life was a trip to the Holy Land in 1984. She enjoyed readin
g the Bible, drinking coffee and having Frosty’s as often as possible
, often supplied by her brother-in-law, Richard Packer.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Denton) Levenworth of Beech Cre
ek; a brother-in-law, Richard Packer; two sisters, Janet (Gene) Eberha
t of Beech Creek and Maxine (Horace) Thomas of Lansdale; two sisters-
in-law, Gladys and Faye Peters; two grandchildren, Tammy (Eric) Mille
of Bloomsburg and Jason Levenworth and Desiree of Mill Hall; and si
x great grandchildren, Emma, Garret, James, Dominic, Tony and Dorian
. She is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews and many great niece
s and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, LeRoy, Clair and Richar
d Peters, and two sisters, Joann Peters and Eleaner Packer.
Services will be Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Dean K. Wetz
ler Jr. Funeral Home, Mill Hall, with Pastor Russel Moldovan officiati
g. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In
terment will be in Hayes-Fearon Cemetery, Beech Creek.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blanchard Church of Christ in ca
e of the funeral home.
