Loup Valley Cemetery - Logan County, Logan County, Logan County, Nebraska, USA
Notes: AKA: Lamb Cemetery, Nesbit Cemetery
Cemetery is west of Stapleton (which is in Logan County).
The Loup Valley Cemetery is located approximately 9 miles west of Stapleton
on Highway 92 and 3/4 mile south. In the early years this cemetery was also
known to some as the Lamb or Nesbit Cemetery. Restore N. Lamb, a homesteader, lost his wife, Mary A., in 1900. She was buried on the Lamb homestead.
In 1906 Mr Lamb deeded approximately three acres of land to the cemetery.
The records show the formal organization goes back to 1910. In 1948 the
Association launched an intensive campaign to clean up and improve the
cemetery. Fences were rebuilt, a new entrance and wider drive ways provided.
Chester and Edith Barner donated additional land to the cemetery. For
several years the McPherrrin family took care of the grass mowing. Later
15 to 20 neighbors gathered with power mowers for a cleaning up and mowing
day. Now most of the mowing is paid for by donations, but many volunteers
donate hours of work toward its upkeep. At the close of 1985 there are
nearly 300 burials recorded.
