Abraham Breneman
Offered by Bruce I. Barner – 4th great grandson of Adam Barner Last weekend I discovered Abraham Breneman’s grave in the oldest part of the cemetery of the Mennonite Church in Lindale, Virginia (north of Edom, Virginia) along with many members of his family. I discovered there was a “Breneman Saw Mill” on the German River northwest of Edom near the West Virginia state line at the furthest reaches of navigable waters that feed into the North Fork of the Shenandoah River. I also discovered Abraham Breneman died from “camp fever” (a form of bacterial Typhus) in early 1813 shortly after soldiers returned home to the Shenandoah Valley from fighting in the War of … Continue reading →

Reunion set for June 19th, 2021
Greetings Cousins, The annual Barner Reunion will be held on June 19, 2021 at Barner’s Church, Liverpool. It has been awhile since we’ve seen each other due to the pandemic, we missed getting together last year. I am hopeful that this year we can get together. We may take the reunion to the grove. That way we can enjoy the sunshine and the scenic view from the church. If you check out our website, the year the reunion started was 1921. That makes this the 100th year since the start. Wayne A. Barner (25 August 1937-19 March 2021)
Wayne Alvin Barner, age 83, entered eternal rest on March 19th, 2021 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was surrounded by his loving family and entered God’s presence peacefully. Wayne was born on August 25th, 1937 in Aaronsburg, PA, the only son of Esther Krape Barner and Charles Lee Barner. He was happily married to Helene Mary Barner (née Schumacher), his wife of 59 years, on June 13th, 1962. Wayne enlisted in the USMC in 1956 after he attended USMC recruit basic training at Parris Island, SC. Christine Jane (Bierly)
CHRISTINE JANE (BIERLY) BRUNGARD of Loganton, Pa., passed away Oct. 10, 2020. She was born on July 22, 1924 in Renovo, Pa., daughter of the late Edward Earl and Laura Sophia Zimmerman Bierly. Married Harold Merrill Brungard, on July 24, Survived by her son Robert M. (Mary) Brungard and daughter Jane E. (LeRoy) Rossman; and by sister Mary E. (Forney) Winner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1981 and her brothers and their spouses, Glenn E. (Marie) Bierly and Richard E. (Charlotte) Bierly. Interment at the Booneville Cemetery.
